Blessings of the Year Ornament

I've had this idea cooking in my head for a while.  Thought it would make a great homemade & thoughtful gift for our family, friends, teachers, and those who serve our family throughout the year.
  • 2-sided scrapbook paper -- cut pieces to 6 inches by 3/4 inches
  • silver leaf marker
  • clear ornament (glass or shatterproof)
  • sharpie marker
  • gift container
  • instructions to recipient
In each gift container I put in crinkle filler, ornament, new sharpie marker, 15 slips of paper--in case of errors, and instruction card.  Wrapped with 1/2 inch ribbon bow!

Medieval Times Sensory Tub

Naters' although turning six in less than two weeks, still asks for Sensory tubs and I amazed how she will play with them for quite awhile without getting bored.  She's been asking for weeks for one, so tonight I put this one together.  I used French lentils for the base filler and I used the following TOOBS Lair of the Dragon Collections 1 &2, Fairy Fantasies, & lastly Knights & Dragons.  For a pond idea I used a wooden bowl and tossed in a handful of beads from our Blue bag so she has a mixtures of blue beads to simulate water.  I gave her a small glass container, a small metal container, and two spoons.

Personalized Privacy shield for desk

Naters' school sent home instructions on the last day of Kindergarten, that we were to maker her a privacy shield for her desk for reading & test taking for First Grade.  You can but these premade from Oriental Trading Company and Lakeshore Learning, but I think the small size of the desk necessitates we make a homemade one.
Our neighbor's got a new kitchen appliance and gave us the heavy cardboard to make this.  We were instructed to cut 3 pieces 13 inches high  two pieces 15 inches across and one 17 inches across.  I had some left over paint from when Steve painted Naters' bedroom so I put two coats of paint on each side of the cardboard.  Finished off the raw edges with printed duck tape that Naters picked out.  When applying the duct tape connecting the larger piece to the two smaller pieces, I allowed space for this to be folded (She will store it in her desk at school) and it worked perfectly.  I used my xyron to make all the pictures stickers and after placing everything down, I used two coats of Mod Podge to seal the pictures down.  I also added some small sayings:  We Love You, Be a Good Friend, Way to Go! Slow Down, Take your Time because she tends to rush through her school work.  The side with her name is the side that will face out.  The side without her name is the side she will be looking at.  She had a lot of fun picking out pictures of family & friends!  I did notice on her side she picked out two of the same pictures of her with Belle, I replaced that with another pic before doing the mod podge coating.

Ocean Themed Calendar pieces

Here are some Ocean themes calendar pieces.  Email me or leave a comments and I can send you my publisher file (editable) or jpg file. Years included go to 2017 on file or jpg. I do have an extra page of pics without numbers because I like to be able to place them in our wall calendar with no gap in consistency of pic order (what can i say I'm OCD!)

I am Content, We Choose Virtues, writing practice

We are working on Naters' writing this summer.  It is weak and she in entering the first grade.  She did well in Kindergarten overall for the year, but seemed to loose focus the last grading period.  So we are going to continue to do school work in the summer and the reading program through the school.  Our goal this week is to have 30 minutes of "school time" a day except when we are having an outing or will be out of town.

The are handwriting worksheets I made through Handwritingworksheets.com.  Our school district teachs D'Nealian handwriting but so can also do print or cursive there.  We are starting the week with We Choose Virtues, I am Content.

Mommy crafts with Krylon looking glass paint

I bought two glass sugar bowls at my local Goodwill Industries for just dollars and i purchased my can of Krylon Looking Glass spray paint at Hobby Lobby (with a 40% off coupon, of course!) very happy with how these turned out.  They are going to store my makeup remover pads and qtips in the bathroom!

Wine and Canvas

I signed up for a Wine and Canvas class  here in Cleveland at Chammps in Crocker Park.  We painted this painting.  I'm pleased with how the painting came out.  I did finish the painting with a light coat of silver spray paint just to make it a little washed out.  over all very pleased with the effect and i have it hanging in one of our bathrooms.
I do not drink(wine, drinks, food optional), but the wine & canvas event was very fun!  I would suggest getting there about an hour before hand if you want to eat before you start painting.  I didn't like the idea of eating while painting.
Just my opinion!
Thanks for looking!
